Adding shortcuts allows you to tailor the meeting space for efficiency and convenience, and with the added ability to edit them, including customizing icons, you can ensure each shortcut works optimally for your meeting room users.

Add a Shortcut

Adding an application shortcut:

  1. Navigate to Settings and select the Shortcuts section.

  2. Choose the Application button found under "Add a shortcut."

  3. The Add app window will pop up. Launcher will then scan your system for available applications.

  4. Once the search finishes, you'll see a list of applications.

  5. Simply tap on the desired applications to select them and then hit Add.

  6. Once done, the window will close, bringing you back to the shortcut settings, where your new shortcuts are now visible.

Add using a file path

If you encounter issues launching applications via a shortcut, here’s how you can verify and rectify:

  1. Access Shortcut Properties:

    • Right-click (or long-press for touch devices) on the problematic Desktop shortcut.

    • Choose Properties.

  2. Locate the Executable:

    • Within the Properties window, under the Shortcut tab, click Open file location. This directs you to the exact location of the application.

  3. Copy the Executable Address:

    • Right-click on the application executable.

    • Opt for Copy address as text.

  4. Navigate to the solution's Shortcut Settings:

    • Open your Call + App Launching solution.

    • Proceed to the Shortcuts section within Settings.

    • Click on Application under "Add a shortcut."

  5. Link the Correct Executable:

    • In the subsequent Add app window, click Browse... to open Windows file explorer.

    • Right-click or long-press in the path field and choose Paste to insert the file address.

    • Hit the right-facing arrow or press Enter on your keyboard to follow the file address.

    • Pick the application executable file (typically .exe) and click Open.

  6. Confirm the Update:

    • After closing the window, you'll return to the Shortcut settings, showing your updated shortcut.

Add a web link

Adding a web link shortcut:

  1. Navigate to Settings:

    • Open Settings and select the Shortcuts section.

  2. Add a Web link:

    • Press the Web link button located under "Add a shortcut".

  3. Input the Web Address:

    • An Add web link window will pop up.

    • Type a valid web address in the URL field.

    • To see how the shortcut will look, click on the Preview option. Once a valid URL is entered, the shortcut's name and icon will be auto-generated based on the web address.

  4. App Mode Settings:

    • Decide whether to activate the App mode. If enabled, the web shortcut will launch in a separate window instead of a typical browser tab.
      Note: This feature is exclusive to those with Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge as their default browsers.

  5. Customize Shortcut Appearance (Optional):

    • Below the URL, you have the freedom to modify the shortcut’s name, icon, or background color.

  6. Finalize Your Shortcut:

    • Preview the web shortcut once more to ensure it looks as expected.

    • Click Add to complete the process.

Add a network drive

Adding a network drive shortcut:

  1. Access Shortcuts:

    • Go to Settings and select the Shortcuts section.

  2. Add a Network Drive:

    • Press the Network drive button under "Add a shortcut".

  3. Input Drive Details:

    • Enter a valid drive URL (ensure it's in UNC path format) into the Drive URL field.

  4. Set Authentication:

    • Choose between User authentication (requires a username and password) or Shared access (allows any user access).

  5. Name Your Shortcut:

    • Provide a clear name for the Network drive shortcut.

  6. Customize Appearance (Optional):

    • You can pick a background color for the shortcut from the available options.

  7. Finalize:

    • Click Add to finish up.

Edit a Shortcut

After you've added your favorite apps and web links as shortcuts, you can customize them to suit your needs. There are a variety of colors and icons to choose from, as well as the option to upload a custom icon.

Follow these simple steps to personalize your shortcut icon:

  1. Select Your Icon:

    • Click on the "Use your own icon" option for the shortcut you wish to customize.

  2. Browse and Choose:

    • Navigate through your computer files and select an image (SVG or PNG format).

  3. Preview Your Choice:

    • Once selected, the image will replace the default shortcut icon.

    • Review the shortcut preview to ensure it looks as expected.

  4. Save Your Changes:

    • If you're happy with the new icon, save the changes to update the shortcut.
