This term’s update puts more control in your hands. Here’s what’s new, and how to make the most of it.
The Same ID For Every Session
Gives your room one persistent session ID, for a quicker, more streamlined connecting experience. It’s off by default, so nothing changes unless you turn it on. To enable, head to Settings>Session ID and you'll choose between the current temporary ID or a new fixed alphanumerical ID
Hide Your Session ID When The Room’s Idle
More peace of mind, by keeping the joining instructions and Session ID off your home screen when the room isn’t in use, so the code isn’t sitting there for anyone walking past. Head to Settings>Session ID>Session ID Visibility and set Home screen to Off.
Turn off the ID overlay while you’re presenting
If enabled, the Session ID is shown on top of your shared content. To disable this, head to Settings>Session ID>Session ID Visibility and set Over shared screen to Off
Turn on Fill Display for edge-to-edge sharing
Your shared content now matches your main display, so there’s no more black bars down the side. You can enable this from the settings in your DisplayNote app on your laptop or device under Fill Display.

Back to School Checklist
Before you welcome students back, take a few minutes to get your screen sharing setup ready for the new term. This checklist helps make sure your devices, settings, and connections are all good to go, so your first class runs smoothly from the start.
Update your devices and apps - Update prompts can be found at the bottom of your home page and when you load your DisplayNote desktop app.
Check Wi-Fi and network connections - Ensure your device and main display are on the correct network.
Turn on Moderator Mode - Go to Settings > Session Management and enable Moderator Mode. This gives you control over who can present and allows you to connect through Control your Session.
Hide your joining code when the room’s idle - This is off by default. [Settings path: TBC] lets you hide the joining instructions and Session ID from the home screen when the room isn’t in a session.
Decide whether your ID shows while you’re sharing - Off by default. [Settings path: TBC] hides the ID overlay while you present. Switch it back on any time a latecomer needs to read the code off the display.
Turn on Unified Meeting ID, if you want it - Optional and off by default. [Settings path: TBC] gives your room a single persistent code, for extra peace of mind about who’s finding their way in.
