Screen Sharing
Our latest update introduces a redefined way of joining, for those educators, presenters and facilitators who need enhanced control and freedom in their screen sharing session. We’ve also expanded our hardware compatibility, with improved consistency when sharing content and standardized device discovery.
Take full control of your session
Our "Connect as a Teacher" feature has evolved into Control your Session. Giving Google users more control in navigating a screen sharing session directly from their device.
Moderating who can share
Control your Session now works with Moderator Mode. This ensures that only invited participants can share their screens. No more hiding the Session ID from wayward audience members, you’re in full control of what is presented to the screen.
Invite presenters from your device
Your device will show the screen sharing lobby, letting you invite participants with a tap from anywhere in the room. Meaning you can control the session with confidence and minimal disruption, without having to remain directly at the display.
Remote control is in your hands
Control your Session, also gives you access to our remote control functionality. Meaning from your device, you can take control of the entire interactive display. Open browsers, start videos, change settings, all from your own laptop.
Important to know
Moderator Mode should be enabled on the main display before connecting via Control your Session. For more information on this new functionality, head over to the Control your Session page, or take a look at the quick demo from Lianne below.
Make sure to update both the main display and your device to the latest version to make use of the features above.
Infrared Remote Compatibility
We’ve improved our compatibility with Infrared remote controls, ensuring no matter how users want to interact with the screen, they can navigate with confidence. Visual cues now highlight selected elements, ensuring intuitive navigation and a user-friendly interface experience.
Share audio with a window
Building on last quarter’s introduction of the share a window option in the desktop app, you can now share audio alongside your content. We’re dedicated to ensuring a consistent and reliable experience, however you choose to share content, so we’re pleased to take another step forward to this end goal.
Consistent device discovery
We understand how important native casting, so we’ve streamlined the experience when connecting via AirPlay, Miracast and Google Cast. Now, the Room Name will be the consistent way to discover and connect to devices quickly, with minimal confusion.
Academy is now closer to home
Our Academy provides access to tutorials, guides, and helpful support, all just a click away with the new link on the join page. Simply click "Help + Resources" in the top navigation for quick access. The DisplayNote Academy is available to everyone who wants to learn more about Screen Sharing.
