Central Management Has Arrived

What’s changed: You can now register and manage your Screen Sharing Displays from one central place, the new Central Management portal.

Why it matters: IT teams no longer need to configure every receiver by hand or walk room to room to make a change. Set up, monitor and update your whole estate of devices from a single dashboard, whether that’s five rooms or five hundred.

One Session ID That Never Changes

What’s changed: Screen sharing can now use a single, persistent Unified Session ID for every lesson. Making it easier for participants to reconnect and avoids changes caused by network interruptions.

Why it matters: Presenters and students get one code to remember for a room, no matter how they’re connecting or whether the network’s up or down. Rooms feel simpler and sessions start faster, with less “wait, which code is it again?” The current 6-digit code still works as normal switching to a Unified Session ID is optional, head to Settings>Session ID and choose between temporary or fixed.

More Control Over the Session ID

What’s changed: Teachers can now choose to hide the session ID from the home screen and whether the ID shows floating over shared content.

Why it matters: No more session ID sitting on top of what you’re trying to show, blocking content or keeping the ID visible to audiences you don't want to have access. Keep the ID visible when you need it, and out of the way when you don’t. Head to Settings>Session ID>Session ID Visibility to turn these features On/Off.

A Better Fit for Every Screen

What’s changed: A new “Fill Display” option lets shared content stretch to match the room’s screen, instead of leaving black bars when the aspect ratios don’t match.

Why it matters: Whatever device someone’s sharing from, content fills the display properly, so nothing looks cramped or half-sized on the big screen. Enable this from your DisplayNote app settings on your laptop or device.

Apple Silicon, Natively

What’s changed: The DisplayNote app for Mac now runs natively on Apple Silicon, instead of through Rosetta.

Why it matters: Faster performance and a smoother experience for anyone presenting from a newer Mac, right as Apple moves away from supporting Rosetta.

Improvements and Fixes

• Full support for Android 16, keeping every Android-based receiver and client up to date with the latest platform requirements

• New Android receiver support added for ChromeOS devices

• Fixes an issue where the app couldn’t be reopened after being closed while a client was still connected

• Fixes an issue where the app crashed shortly after opening on some older Android devices

• Fixes an issue where AirPlay audio broke when using grid view

• Fixes an issue where a Chromebox device couldn’t reconnect to GoogleCast after a Wi-Fi disconnect

• Fixes an issue where the receiver could get stuck on launch with TalkBack accessibility turned on

• Fixes an issue where the receiver showed a technical server error for an invalid license, instead of a clear message

• Fixes an issue where Windows Defender showed an unnecessary warning during install

• Fixes an issue where an AirPlay device could connect to the receiver before a session had started

• A number of additional stability and reliability fixes across the receiver and client apps
