Stronger, More Reliable Connections

We’ve improved how clients connect and stay connected, even in challenging network conditions. The client now prioritises the best available connection, using the local network when possible for optimal performance. If a connection is disrupted, it will automatically attempt to recover unless the network is completely unavailable, reducing dropouts and ensuring a smoother experience.

  • Client reconnection: If a client loses internet, it will attempt to reconnect immediately, with a 30-second timeout before stopping.

  • Media streaming recovery: If media streaming is lost, the client will attempt to reconnect up to three times, with increasing delays.

  • Receiver reconnection: If the receiver loses internet, it will attempt to reconnect up to five times without disconnecting clients. If all attempts fail, it will create a new meeting.

Googlecast Screen Sharing – Now Smoother Than Ever

This release introduces a fully re-engineered native Googlecast experience, designed from the ground up, focused on improving connection reliability and overall performance. While the casting process remains unchanged for users, they can expect a more stable and responsive experience in day-to-day use. These under-the-hood improvements aim to reduce connection delays and minimise dropouts, making Googlecast an even more dependable choice for sharing your screen.

Improved AirPlay Discovery

AirPlay users can now find and connect to displays more reliably, even in complex network setups, making it easier to share content without frustration.

Improved Miracast Connection

Miracast users who were previously experiencing issues connecting should now see a more reliable and quicker connection time. This update includes the requested rollback to remove the Miracast changes introduced in 4.39.12.

Improved Broadcast Performance

We’ve upgraded our Broadcast experience by integrating a new backend service, designed to deliver a more reliable and efficient streaming experience for participants. The benefits of the new back end services are:

  • Better network handling: In current versions, if the bandwidth of the host device is low the stream could get cut. With this upgrade, the steam instead will reduce in quality leading to a more robust and reliable service.

  • Retry management in libraries: If there are drops, Broadcast will try and reconnect instead of dropping the connection.

During the initial rollout, both the existing and new backend services will run in parallel to support older versions of the app. A final switchover date will be announced in advance, after which only the new backend will be supported. To continue using Broadcast beyond this point, all clients and hosts must be on the latest version.

More Freedom & Confidence for Moderators

Control a Session on iPad: Moderators can now control a session directly from an iPad, allowing them to move around while maintaining full control. This includes inviting users to share, stopping sharing when needed, and remotely controlling the main display.

Enhanced Grid Control: Moderators can now make users full-screen or minimise them directly from their own device, eliminating the need to approach the main display.

Preview screen shares on the receiver: Moderators can now preview a participant’s screen share on the receiver before approving it for display. This added layer of control ensures that only appropriate and relevant content is shown on the main screen, enhancing session moderation and creating a more secure environment.

Note: In this release, previews appear on the receiver. A future update will expand this to show previews on the moderator's device (controlling a session) if the invitation originated there.

Improved Accessibility & UI Enhancements

  • Improvements to contrasting: Updated colour palette to improve colour contrasting and visibility for all users.

  • Keyboard Navigation for Web Client: Users can now navigate all elements using only the keyboard.

  • Refined UI Design: Graphics, layouts, modals, and buttons have been updated for a more modern and cohesive look.

  • Improved IR Remote Navigation: We’ve enhanced the experience of using an IR remote to control the receiver. Building on our earlier support, this update brings smoother and more intuitive navigation, making it easier than ever to move through the interface.

Optimised Media Performance on Enterprise Networks

All audio and video streaming traffic is now properly tagged with Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP) values, allowing network administrators to prioritise media traffic and ensure smooth streaming, even in high-traffic environments.

Touchback Control for all connected displays

Users sharing a secondary display from the desktop client can now maintain full touchback control, just like when sharing their primary screen. This enhancement ensures seamless interactivity, allowing users to present with privacy while still engaging with their shared content. By aligning touchback functionality across all shared screens, this update removes confusion around primary display settings and improves the overall sharing experience.

Multitouch Gestures for Touchback

Users at the main room display can now use multitouch gestures, such as pinch-to-zoom, when interacting with shared content via touchback. This update enhances the intuitive, interactive experience by aligning with natural touch interactions. While the response to these gestures depends on the connected client, the receiver will accurately transmit touch events for seamless control. Please note this is not currently available for users connected via Miracast.

Standardised Terminology

To ensure clarity and consistency, all references to "attendees" have been updated to "participants" across the application.

Preview screen shares on the receiver

Moderators can now preview a participant’s screen share on the receiver before approving it for display. This added layer of control ensures that only appropriate and relevant content is shown on the main screen, enhancing session moderation and creating a more secure environment.

When a participant accepts a screen share invitation and selects what to share, a preview appears on the receiver. The moderator can then approve or deny the content. If approved, the participant’s screen is shared with the group; if denied, the participant is notified.

Note: In this release, previews appear on the receiver. A future update will expand this to show previews on the moderator's device (controlling a session) if the invitation originated there.
