What's New
AirPlay Touchback
We’ve now added AirPlay Touchback support. When a user shares their screen from an iPad via AirPlay, they can now control the iPad directly from the main display, enabling interactive use cases such as navigating apps, advancing content, and interacting with on-screen elements without needing to touch the iPad.
Setup:
For AirPlay Touchback to work, the following settings must be enabled on the iPad:
Go to Settings → Accessibility
Enable AssistiveTouch.
Inside AssistiveTouch → enable Mouse Keys.
Connection Process:
Start Montage with Bluetooth enabled
Share the iPad screen via AirPlay
Open the display menu and select Touchback
Allow the Bluetooth discoverability pop-up (available for 120 seconds)
On the iPad, go to Settings → Bluetooth
Select the display from the list of available devices
Once connected, the iPad can be controlled directly from the display
Limitations:
Do not connect more than one iPad to a display. If you are changing iPads, ensure the previous one has completely disconnected its Bluetooth connection from the display
Please note: AirPlay touchback is only available on an iPad and on displays running Android 12 or later.
Help & Resources in the Moderator Web Client
Moderators using the web client can now access Help & Resources directly within an active session.
This provides:
Quick links to the Learning Academy
Access to “What’s New” (release notes)
Easier discovery of help and training content without leaving a session.
Accessibility Improvements (EEA Requirements)
Updates have been made to address areas of Montage that were previously reported as not fully compatible with screen readers.
These improvements support EEA accessibility requirements and improve usability for users relying on assistive technologies. Additional improvements may continue in future releases.
Android Target SDK Update
The application now targets Android SDK Version 35 (Android 15) to ensure compatibility with the latest Android platform requirements and maintain compliance with modern Android development standards.

Internal Technical Notes
Miracast over Infrastructure (MICE) Support
Support for Miracast over Infrastructure (MICE) has now been implemented within the codebase.
While the functionality exists, it is not currently available to standard Montage deployments. Enabling MICE requires firmware-level changes on the display side, which we cannot apply on devices running the standard Montage firmware.
However, this capability is available in the NewlineCast variant, where we worked directly with Newline to implement the required firmware changes on their side. Once Newline releases the corresponding firmware update, the functionality will become available on their devices.
Although this is not accessible to vanilla Montage users, it is important to note that the core code support is now in place. This means the feature can be enabled for partners in the future, provided the necessary firmware support is implemented by the hardware manufacturer.
AirPlay SDK Integration
The AirPlay SDK is now built from a shared common branch across all projects.
This internal change ensures all products use the same AirPlay codebase, improving maintainability, consistency across projects, and simplifying future updates.
