Smarter, Reliable Connections

v4.42

•

Beta

iPad connected to display via AirPlay

This beta release enhances connection stability, ensuring participants stay connected in the best way possible. We've improved how connections are established, handled disconnections more effectively, and made network resilience a priority. These updates reduce disruptions and create a smoother experience, even in less-than-ideal network conditions.

What’s new

Stronger, More Reliable Connections

We’ve improved how clients connect and stay connected, even in challenging network conditions. The client has improved how it prioritises the best available connection, using the local network, when possible, for optimal performance. If a connection is disrupted, it will automatically attempt to recover unless the network is completely unavailable, reducing dropouts and ensuring a smoother experience.

When a client loses internet connection

  • The receiver waits for the client to reconnect, with a 30-second timeout.

  • The client will attempt to reconnect immediately without any extra delay.

  • If the client has not reconnected within 30 seconds, it will stop trying to reconnect.

When media streaming is lost

  • The receiver waits for the client to reconnect, with a 30-second timeout.

  • The client will attempt to reconnect up to three times, with delays of 0s, 3s, and 5s between attempts.

When the receiver loses internet connection

  • The receiver will attempt to reconnect to the internet up to five times, with increasing delays of up to 15 seconds.

  • The receiver will not disconnect any clients while attempting to reconnect.

  • If all reconnection attempts fail, the receiver will disconnect all clients and create a new meeting.

Improved AirPlay Discovery

AirPlay users can now find and connect to displays more reliably, even in complex network setups, making it easier to share content without frustration.

Keyboard Navigation for Web Client

Users can now navigate all elements on the web client using only the keyboard, improving accessibility and ease of use.

Ensure all media is properly labelled

To improve performance on enterprise networks, all audio and video streaming traffic is now properly tagged with Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP) values. This allows network administrators to prioritise media traffic, ensuring smoother audio and video streaming, even in high-traffic environments.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed a crash that occurred on MacOS client when internet dropped while uploading a file

  • Fixed some minor alignment issues on web client

  • Added translations in the quality selector drop down

  • Fixed an issue where changing the volume on the receiver had no impact on the shared audio
